What is the definition for '; Control Group'; in science(Biology)?

The control group is a population of random individuals that are not exposed to the testing criteria for the study.

For example if your testing the effect of a particular drug on mice. A certain percentage of the animals (said percentage must represent the population demographics of the entire population) will not be given the drug. They will instead receive a placebo.

This procedure is particularly important in human trail studies where the placebo effect can have a quantitative effect upon getting better. And as such the participants must think they are being treated. Doing this negates the placebo effect from the final results of the trial. What is the definition for '; Control Group'; in science(Biology)?
control group basicaly means another set of ';test subjects'; that are not experimented apoun. in other words

inmagine your testing a new cancer drug. you have 20 patients. you give 10 patients the drug and the other ten get the standard and current treatments.(or no treatment at all) the ones that do not recive the treatment are called the control group.

this way you have tell that if say 7 of the people that are given the new experimental drug survive and only 3 of the people that did not get the drug survive then you know that the new drug is better than current treatments or no treatments. because you have the control goupe to test the results from your experimental group.
